Picture Hanging Calculator

Work out the exact height for a picture hook, the spacing for a group, and the layout that keeps a gallery level.

Measure the outside of the frame, not the artwork.

The gallery standard is 145 cm, or 57 inches. Lower, to about 135 cm, over a sofa or a sideboard.

For a sawtooth hanger or a D ring hung directly, enter the distance from the top edge to the hanging point. For a wire, measure how far it pulls up.

Enter one for a single picture.

Arrangement

For a single picture, leave this as it is.

Two to five centimetres for a tight group, ten or more for a scattered collection.
