Terms of Use
The terms that apply when you use Handcraft, in plain language.
By using Handcraft you accept these terms. They are written to be understood rather than to be litigated, but they are the terms.
What you may do
You may use every tool on this site free of charge, for personal or commercial purposes. You may use a calculator's result in your own work, including in a business, without asking and without paying.
You may link to any page on this site, and you may quote a short extract of a guide with a link back to the page you took it from.
What you may not do
- Copy substantial parts of the guides and republish them as your own content.
- Republish the site or its tools wholesale on another domain.
- Use automated tools to scrape the site in a way that degrades it for other people.
- Attempt to gain access to the administrative area or to interfere with the service.
- Present a result from this site as a professional certification, a legal determination or a safety approval.
Embedding a calculator
Where a calculator offers an embed snippet, you may place that widget on your own site provided you keep the attribution link intact. You may not remove the attribution, and you may not charge for access to the widget itself.
Estimates, not guarantees
Every tool on this site produces an estimate based on the numbers you enter and on stated assumptions. Estimates can be wrong, and they can be wrong in ways that cost you money: a yarn estimate that comes out short, a board count that leaves you one piece short, a cost calculation that misses a fee. You are responsible for checking a figure before you act on it, and the disclaimer sets out the limit of our responsibility.
Availability
We aim to keep the site available and correct but we do not promise either. Tools may change, be corrected, or be withdrawn. Because the site is free and provided as it is, no compensation is offered for an interruption or for a change to a tool.
Your content
If you submit a comment or a review, you keep ownership of it and you grant us permission to publish it on the site alongside the page it relates to. You confirm that it is yours to submit and that it is not unlawful or misleading.
Intellectual property
The site's text, design, code and reference data belong to their respective owners. The reference standards the calculators rely on belong to the bodies that publish them and are used here as factual inputs, not reproduced as tables where a licence would be needed.
Governing terms and changes
These terms may be updated; the current version is always the one on this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
