Handmade Profit Dashboard
One product tells you whether that product works. Several products side by side tell you which ones are worth your time. This dashboard holds a list of products and shows profit per item, the margin each one actually earns, and the hourly rate the work really pays after materials and fees.
Your list is kept in this browser with localStorage, so it survives a refresh on this device and no account is needed. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored on our side. Clearing your browser data clears the list.
Your products
Add a row per product and fill in what it costs and what it sells for. Empty material rows are ignored.
This table is stored only in this browser, on this device. It is not sent anywhere and it is not part of the page that search engines see.
The list is empty. Add a product, or load the example to see how the figures behave.
Materials: quantity and unit cost
- Cost
- Price
- Profit per item
- Margin
- Fees paid
- Effective hourly
The fees and the margin add up to 100 percent or more of the price, so no price can satisfy both. Lower the margin or reduce the fees.
Across the list
- Revenue at these prices
- Profit per sale across the list
- Blended margin
- Hours to make one of each
These totals assume you sell one of everything and include only products that can be priced. They are a comparison, not a forecast.
Worked example
A small crocheted blanket: two yarn purchases and a trim, 1.5 hours of work at 18 an hour, 1.80 of packaging, a 9.5 percent marketplace fee, 3 percent payment processing, a 0.30 fixed fee and a 45 percent margin. These are the figures the dashboard produces for it, worked out by the same service the pricing calculator uses.

What the profit works out to per hour
| Figure | Amount | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Materials | 14.25 | Quantity times unit cost, summed across the material rows |
| Labour | 27.00 | 1.5 hours at 18.00 an hour |
| Packaging | 1.80 | Paid on every sale, whatever the price |
| Production cost | 43.05 | The floor under any price you can quote |
| Profit per item at retail | 45.90 | Price minus costs minus the fees taken from that price |
| Fees paid at retail | 13.05 | 12.5 percent of the price plus the fixed fee |
| Wholesale at half retail | 51.00 | Still leaves 1.28 per piece |
| Materials as a share of price | 14.0% | How much of what the buyer pays goes straight back out on materials |
| Labour as a share of price | 26.5% | The share that pays for your time, before profit |
| Scenario | Margin | Price | Profit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Low margin Wins on price. Fine for a repeatable design with cheap materials, dangerous for anything slow to make. | 27.0% | 71.65 | 19.35 |
| Standard margin The tier you asked for. This is the price to quote unless you have a reason to move. | 45.0% | 102.00 | 45.90 |
| Premium margin For one-off work, commissions and anything with a story. Expect fewer buyers and better ones. | 60.8% | 162.06 | 98.45 |
How the dashboard works
What it shows
Profit per item, the margin that profit represents as a share of the price, and the hourly rate the work earns once materials, overhead and fees are paid.
Why several products
A single product can look fine on its own and still be the worst use of an evening. Side by side, the slow low-margin item stands out immediately.
Where the list lives
