Cure time

The resting period after a candle is poured, before it is burned or sold, during which the fragrance binds with the wax and the scent throw develops. Soy candles commonly need one to two weeks; paraffin needs less.

Burning a candle before it has cured gives a misleading impression of its scent throw, and selling one too early means the customer experiences a weaker candle than the recipe can actually produce. Resin, soap and clay all have their own cure or rest periods as well, and each is published by the manufacturer of the product rather than being common to the craft.
